You will need to submit application in person along with:
1. Passport fee (fees are on application.)
2. Must have certified original birth certificate (copy will be denied).
3. Passport photos.
VISA: If you land in Thailand, you can get a Thai Visa at the airport for free. Cambodian Visa cost $20.00 - $25.00 for a 30 day tourist Visa. Obtain this Visa at time of entering Cambodia. Make sure you bring a passport photo for your Cambodia Visa.
AIRLINE TICKETS: Contact the missionaries, Jerry and Wilma Mishler via email to schedule your stay with them. Their email address: mishlerjerry@hotmail.com. Contact your Travel Agent with the travel dates. Estimated round trip from West Coast to Phnom Penh: $1,000-$1,500 per person. East Coast add $300. We recommend Eva Air, or China Air, which flies directly into Phnom Penh.
DEPARTURE: Check in with your airline to see about their check-in tim and boarding time.
BAGGAGE: Check with your carrier. Be up-to-date as rules continually change. Make sure to take into account if you have to fly to your interantional departure. It will be considered a "domestic" flight with luggage allowance less than international flights.
HOTEL ACCOMODATIONS IN PHNOM PENH: Most of the time your flight will arrive by noon and you will not need to spend the night. If you do, add $40 -60 for hotel room
(2 occupancy), $20 for food.
GROUND TRAVEL - PHNOM PENH TO BATTAMBANG: Trip takes 4-5 hours by car. If you are traveling by yourself it will cost you $50 each way. If traveling with others you can fit 2 people plus 4 pieces luggage & carry ons, and share costs. A van will cost 100 total each way and will fit 8-10 people depending on your luggage.
TRAVEL CASH: The best exchange rate in both Thailand and Cambodia for money is $100 bills. They will not take bills with marks, tears or imperfections.
CLOTHING - DRESS CODE: Male & Female. Clothing for tropical weather. Comfortable but modest is best. We recommend that you bring lightweight cotton and wrinkle free casual clothing. Polyester will make you sweat.
•Shorts. It is better to not wear shorts when going out due to mosquitoes, sun burn and the dust factor. If you do decide to bring shorts make sure they are decent.
•T-Shirts/Tops. Please no tank-tops and nothing that is sleeveless unless covered by a shirt. Remember the heat. You need shirts and tops that are loose fit and modest. Please no see-through tops. Plain shirts or T-shirts with Christian symbols or messages are fine. No T-shirts with Christian symbols or messages that might be construed as being militant.
•Shoes. Bring your most comfortable walking shoes. Sandals are the best in tropical weather, tennis shoes are OK, no high heels or men’s dress shoes. A spare pair is also recommended. Sandals are ideal.
•Jewelry is in. However, if they are valuable, you may consider leaving them at home.
•Church clothing. Casual dress is accepted. FYI. Cambodia women who are pregnant wear dresses.
OTHER THINGS TO BRING:
•Personal hygiene products. Soap, waterless soap for road trips, shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine products, razor. Hotel will provide towels. (Do not brush your teeth with tap water.)
•Bug spray, sunscreen, basic first aid, sunglassest, and personal medications.
•Bible, Camera, spending money, reading materials, snack foods, games, etc.
